FISDCares is a collaborative partnership between Friendswood ISD and The Alliance for Youth & Families, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This partnership was established in April 2020 at the request of Friendswood ISD administration to provide meaningful support to students and families facing hardship.
All donations made to The Alliance are tax-deductible and go
directly toward supporting families in need. In fact, 100%
of all proceeds are used to assist with essential needs such as food, rent, clothing, school supplies, and childcare.
Friendswood ISD campus counselors identify and refer students and families who may be experiencing a crisis or need additional support. From there, Alliance staff work closely with those families to provide compassionate, individualized assistance.
Today, FISDCares supports 25 families and 64 students in the
Friendswood community—and we continue to grow with the
support of generous donors and community partners.
Together, we are committed to providing care, compassion,
and real solutions for those who need it most.
We know it's hard for students to focus in the classroom when they're hungry. FISDCares seeks to help every Friendswood ISD family access nutritious food to support their well-being and success.
While we may not be able to assist in every situation, we recognize that life’s challenges can make it difficult for families to make ends meet. FISDCares uses a screening process to help in one-time situations with rent, utilities, or other barriers to
safe and stable shelter.
Whether it’s a student in need of clean school clothes, assistance with extracurricular expenses, or other basic needs, FISDCares works to help students feel supported, included, and able to thrive.
In 2024, we launched Mustangs In Motion as part of our student support efforts. This initiative helps students on our caseload access meaningful extracurricular activities that promote confidence, connection, and personal growth. We are grateful to our community partners who help make this possible, including Chara Christian Dance Academy, Be Someone Sports, Sharks Swim Club, Colts and
Broncos Football, and FISD Community Ed.
Back-to-school season can place a financial strain on families. FISDCares seeks to ease this burden by providing backpacks and school supplies to students referred by FISD counselors.
The holidays can be especially challenging for families in need. Through our MustangSanta program, FISDCares aims to bring joy to children by providing gifts during the month of December.
We understand that a lack of child care can be a major barrier to stable employment. FISDCares has helped provide child care during COVID and continues to support parents—especially single parents—whose work schedules do not align with school hours.
